Franklin T9 Design
The Franklin T9 Mobile Hotspot has a compact build that only comes in black. The size is perfect enough to be put into our pockets. From a glance, it has the size of a credit card that you can bring anywhere. Although, we do admit that it has a slight ruggedness to it. This is due to the device’s thickness, contributing to its bulkiness.
Despite that, the mobile hotspot still maintains its sophisticated, sleek image. Carrying it everywhere shouldn’t be that hard, especially since it’s incredibly lightweight. Not exceeding up to 100g, this device has suitable aesthetics for a modern, mobile hotspot.
Franklin T9 Display
The Franklin T9 Mobile Hotspot features a small display on the front cover. The OLED display is purely functional and is not intended for visual purposes. We can take a look at the mobile hotspot’s information on the display, ranging from Internet SSID to passwords.
We understand that the display is not the main highlight of the device. However, a slightly larger display might have been a better option for improved accessibility.
Also, the display features a set of icons that indicates the status of the mobile hotspot. We can check whether it’s connected to a Wi-Fi or its current battery capacity. There is also a text panel available that can provide simple information. This way, we can know if the mobile hotspot is running into issues or not.

Franklin T9 Performance
The T9 Mobile Hotspot operates on a Qualcomm MDM9207-0 operating system with 256MB of RAM. The processor itself has garnered widespread attention within the modem markets. Developers have utilized this certain chipset to accommodate several network carriers and bands. The processor is made to provide quality connectivity and up to 4G LTE connection.
Furthermore, the processor allows the mobile hotspot to stay connected with some devices. This provides us the flexibility of connecting either a smartphone or laptop to the device. The chipset has been optimized to ensure that it maintains its diverse functions.
Moving onto the operating system, the mobile hotspot uses Linux OS. Operating systems may not appear to have a significant role in mobile hotspots. On the contrary, the operating system helps the mobile device to process all activities in the modem.
Like most operating systems, the Linux is bound to system updates. Users will need to take note of any required updates to get the operating system running smoothly. Otherwise, it may disrupt the overall performance of the device. We won’t be having the Internet connection that we truly need.
The Franklin T9 Mobile Hotspot has a total RAM of 256MB. Compared to other mobile hotspots, the device does have a relatively smaller RAM size. Despite that, we are still able to get a decent connection. Though, it would have been much better if the RAM size is slightly higher to achieve greater performance.
Other than that, the mobile hotspot is pretty standard. Unfortunately, it does not have any nifty features to it. For instance, the device does not come with an anti-theft function. This would have been useful in the event we accidentally lose the mobile hotspot. Overall, the Franklin T9 Mobile does what it’s supposed to do.
Franklin T9 Connectivity
The Franklin T9 Mobile Hotspot can accommodate up to 4G LTE. Users will need to insert a Nano SIM Card before we could even operate the device. Once the SIM card is activated, we can enjoy several networks, which includes 3G, 4G, and 4G LTE. Unfortunately, the mobile hotspot is not capable of operating on 5G yet.
Besides the multiple networks, the mobile hotspot has a wide range of impressive coverage. The 4G LTE can support 2, 4, 5, 12, 25, 26, 41, 66, 71 bands. Meanwhile, the 3G/4G can support 1, 2, 4, 5 bands. This means the mobile hotspot can encompass various areas and still provide a decent connection. No matter where we care, we can still receive adequate Internet access.
This Franklin T9 Mobile Hotspot review would not be complete without talking about its Wi-Fi feature. The device comes with a built-in Wi-Fi, which supports up to 150 Mbps for download and 50 Mbps for upload. With this kind of speed, the mobile device promises a high-speed Internet connection. Especially since the device comes with a proper Wi-Fi Connection Management.
Additionally, the mobile hotspot can connect up to 15 devices through its Wi-Fi sharing feature. This may come off as good news since it provides data connection to many gadgets at the same time. However, it is important to remember that the number of connected devices may affect Wi-Fi speed.
To get the Franklin T9 Mobile Hotspot connected, you will need to access the control panel beforehand. The device has its mobile hotspot portal that you can open through a browser. We are provided with a default password during its initial configuration. As far as settings go, setting up the mobile hotspot should be fuss-free with these instructions.
The device does come with its kind of port. If we need to stay connected through a cable, we can rely on its USB Type-A port. Overall, it’s safe to say that the device does its job of becoming a mobile hotspot. It provides enough coverage and Internet speed for day-to-day usage.
Franklin T9 Battery
The Franklin T9 Mobile Hotspot is installed with a 2,450 mAh battery. Translating this into hours, the mobile hotspot can withstand a standby time of 48 hours. That is a total of 8 hours of using the device non-stop. For casual Internet users, this should be enough. But if we require data connection all the time, this device might not be adequate.
Of course, the battery capacity ultimately depends on our usage. Depending on how many devices the mobile hotspot is connected to, this could affect the battery. It might last up to 8 hours if connected to a single device. But it will be a different story if the mobile device is connected to 15 devices.

At the end of the day, we all have our own needs. Casual users may be satisfied with what the mobile hotspot has to offer. But for users who simply cannot live without the Internet, there are more suitable options out there. Especially the ones that have a bigger battery capacity.
