Clear Browser Search Results on Fire Tablet
Clear browsing history, cookies, and other data from the Silk browser:
- Select Apps & Games from the Settings menu.
- Select Amazon Application Settings > Silk Browser > Privacy > Clear browsing data.
- Check the boxes next to data you want to clear then select Clear Data.
Download Books to Your Fire Tablet
Can’t find your book? Kindle Store purchases are saved to the Cloud. Download them anytime from your Amazon account library.
- Navigate to the Home page of your tablet.
- Select Books or open the Kindle app, then select Library.
- To see all your previously purchased items, select All from your tablet’s library.
- Select the cover of the item you’d like to retrieve to download it again.
Cancel Your Kindle Unlimited Subscription
Important: You’ll not receive a partial refund for unused months for a prepaid (gift or bundle) Kindle Unlimited membership.
Follow these steps to cancel your Kindle Unlimited membership:
- Go to Your Memberships & Subscriptions and sign into your Amazon account (https://www.amazon.com/yourmembershipsandsubscriptions).
- Under the membership settings, select Cancel Kindle Unlimited Membership.
- Select Cancel Membership.
Your membership remains active until the next billing date. After the billing date passes, you lose access to content that you have checked out.
Return a Kindle Book Order
Cancel an accidental book order within seven days. Approved refunds are credited to the original payment source within three to five days.
- Go to Your Orders (https://www.amazon.com/your-orders) and sign in with the same Amazon account information you used to purchase your content.
- From the Digital Orders tab, select the Return for Refund button next to the title you want to return.
- In the pop-up window, choose the reason for return, then select Return for Refund.
Note: If you have a high rate of return requests in your account history, the self-service refund option might be blocked.
Tip: Prevent accidental purchases by setting parental controls.
Install an App on Your Fire Tablet
Download games and apps and use them on the go:
- Select Games & Apps or open the Apps or Games app.
- Select an app from your Library to download it or search for a new app in the Store.

Note: Preinstalled apps can’t be removed from your Fire tablet.

- Select and hold the app for a few seconds.
- Drag the app where you’d like it, or drag it over another app to create a folder.

- Restart your Fire tablet.
- Force close the app.
- Clear the app cache and data.
- Uninstall and reinstall the app.
Note: Pre-installed apps can’t be uninstalled.
Force Close an App on Your Fire Tablet
App not closing? Force stop applications that refuse to close using the following steps:
- Select Apps & Games or Apps & Notifications from the Settings menu.
- Select Manage All Applications (if shown), then select the app you wish to manage.
- Select Force Stop.

Resolve intermittent app performance issues:
- Open the Settings menu.
- Select Apps & Notifications.
- Select Manage All Applications or See all… apps and choose the app you are having trouble with.
- Select Storage, tap to Clear Data or Clear Storage, then Clear Cache.

Resolve intermittent app performance issues:
- Open the Settings menu.
- Select Apps & Games.
- Select Manage All Applications and open the app you are having trouble with.
- Then select Clear Cache and Clear Data.
Uninstall an App from Your Fire Tablet (FireOS 7)
Application not working or no longer needed? Remove or delete the app.
To uninstall an app:
- On the Games or Apps app and select the Menu icon .
- Tab Library and select Downloaded.
- Locate the app you’d like to uninstall and select more options.
- Select Delete from Device.
Note: Preinstalled apps can’t be removed, but can be organized on your home screen. If the app isn’t working, try clearing the app cache and data.

- On the Games & Apps tab, select Library.

- Select Manage All Applications and select the app you are having trouble with.

Turn On Game Mode on Fire Tablet
Enabling Game Mode on your supported device allows you to play games without distractions. Notifications from Alexa or other apps such as email and social networks are suppressed while you play games.
Note: Game Mode is not supported on the Fire HD 8 (10th Generation) Kids tablet while the tablet is in an Amazon Kids child profile.
- Open the Settings menu.
- Select Apps & Games.
- Select Game Mode > On.
Turn Off Game Mode on Fire Tablet
Disabling Game Mode on your supported device resumes notifications while you play games:
- Open the Settings menu.
- Select Apps & Games.
- Select Game Mode > Off.
Add a Printer to Your Fire Tablet
In order to print a PDF, download an office program or PDF viewer from the Amazon Appstore.
Use the following steps to add a printer manually:
- Select the menu icon (three vertical dots) or select File for the item you wish to print then select Print.
- Select Save as PDF then select All printers.
- Locate the IP address for your printer (refer to your printer’s product’s user guide).
- Select the Add Printer icon (plus sign) to add a printer manually using the IP address of the printer.
Print from Your Fire Tablet
Use your tablet for wireless printing.
If you’re printing for the first time, you’ll need to add a printer to your Fire tablet.
- Make sure that your printer is turned on and connected to Wi-Fi.
- Select Print from the menu for the item or web page that you want to print.
- Select your printer from the list or select All Printers for nearby printers.
- Select the number of copies or tap More options to choose the paper’s size, color, and orientation.
- Tap Print.
How Do I Use Split Screen?
View two compatible apps at once using split screen on your Fire HD 10 (11th Generation) tablet:
- Open an app.
- Tap the Task Switcher (square icon in bottom right) to see recently opened apps.
- Tap the app icon and select Split Screen from the menu.
- Select a second app to open in split screen view alongside the first.
To turn off split screen, drag the window of the app you want to full-screen to the other end of the screen.
Note: If you’re using a keyboard, pressing Fn + S activates split screen.
How Do I Use Screen Recording?
View, edit, and share your recording after it’s done.
- Swipe down twice from the top of your screen.
- Swipe right and tap Screen record.
- Choose your recording options, then tap Start. Recording starts after a 3-second countdown.
- Swipe down from the top of the screen and tap the Screen recorder notification to stop recording.
- Tap the Screen recorder notification again to view your recording.
