It’s hard to distinguish Alcatel Raven LTE and Alcatel ZIP LTE on a glance, and this first impression may be true. Both phones have a 5-inch screen, comes in black color and having the same version of OS (Android 7.1 Nougat).
But when looking closer, there are some fundamental differences in design. First, Raven still uses physical buttons for its Home, Back, and App switch buttons. On the other hand, Alcatel ZIP opts for soft buttons. Alcatel ZIP also has a sizable speaker on the top bezel, while Raven’s speaker is more subtle.
Looking closer at the display, both phones differ in screen resolutions even though they have the same size. ZIP is better with an HD screen with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels. Meanwhile, users who opt for Alcatel Raven will need to be satisfied with 480p quality.
The camera also identical between the two phones. Both Raven and Zip have 5 MP rear camera with LED flash, accompanied by 2 MP front-facing camera. While Raven allows users to record 1080p videos, Alcatel ZIP only offers maximum video quality of 720p.
Both phones share the same model of processor, Qualcomm Snapdragon 210. Running at 1.1 GHz, this processor is accompanied by Andreno 304 GPU and 2 GB RAM. That’s why on paper, Alcatel Raven and Alcatel ZIP delivers roughly similar levels of performance.
Alcatel ZIP has a larger battery at 2460 mAH. Compared to Alcatel Raven with 2200 mAh battery, ZIP offers longer standby time for up to 10 days. But Raven has better endurance on talk time. It can reach 14 hours while ZIP only peaks at 6 hours. Another difference, Raven comes with a removable battery. Alcatel ZIP has a non-removable one.
For basic communication features, both phones don’t have stark differences. Both support 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. Location service is available on both using GPS. There are also a headphone jack on each phone and a micro USB port.
