Soft reset allows people to perform factory reset when the phone acts normal. Simply go to Settings > Backup and Reset > Factory Data Reset > Reset Device > Erase Everything. Wait until the process is complete and when it’s done, the phone will reboot back.

Hard Reset Samsung Galaxy Sky

In the other hand, hard reset is the method to perform factory reset when the phone is unable to boot into standard mode. To perform hard reset, follow this guide:

  1. Turn off the phone.
  2. Press and hold Power button, Home button and Volume Up button for a couple of seconds.
  3. When Samsung logo appear on the screen, release Power button only.
  4. When Android logo followed by Recovery Menu appear, release the other two button.
  5. Use Volume button to move up and down and highlighted the Wipe Data / Factory Reset option.
  6. Press Power button to select it.
  7. Confirm the action once more and wait it to complete the process.

After it completes the process, choose Reboot System Now so the phone will boot back to standard mode and it is ready to use.
